Re: 50% price increase in broadband

Spoke to O2 today about possibly moving to them in december and they said that so long as i registered my interest now O2 Broadband - Get connected anytime, anywhere then i would still be able to get 2 months free if i move from sky even if the offer has finished as it will be on record and they will honour it so filled out form on the link to get my name onto the system.

When joining shud i go on premium and downgrade or standard and upgrade tarif. They said to today that they estimate my line to be 7 meg and i currently get 5.3meg off sky. Just thinking they might tend to throw more speeds at me if i am on premium or is this not the case?

As a general rule, I would go standard and then upgrade if you want, rather than try to downgrade later, if your line speed suggests this would be a good idea

So those of us that had the increase earlier this year will not see it again. I don't and will not have Sky Talk.

Do you get the credit Alan?

If you don't have Sky Talk then you would be paying the proper price (as increased from March) for the package.

      Everyday

      With Sky Talk - 5
      Without Sky Talk - 10

      Unlimited

      With Sky Talk - 10
      Without Sky Talk - 15

      Base

      With Sky Talk - 0
      Without Sky Talk - 5

Nobody said that, and I thing that the those of us who keep our line rental seperate will see large price rises for BB over the coming months/years.

Hence why I want to leave on principle.

If they can do it now, then chances are it will go up every September like the TV prices.

I think O2 has been the main beneficent of Sky's policies to date. The danger is that they too may push their price up when they have soaked up the Skyleavers. Even so, I doubt if they would risk a 50 or 100% increase as Sky have done. I think mine must be one of the few Market 3 exchanges who O2 have not enabled.

Re: 50% price increase in broadband

I used to pay 25 a month for my broadband. I would be quite prepared to pay 25 a month in future, if that was the cheapest option available.

Unfortunately O2 have now equalled or bettered Sky's service for a cheaper price, since Sky have hiked their prices up. So even if O2 doubled their price for me (the equivalent service) I would stay with them anyway.

If Sky relented on asking for the MAC and said I could have Unlimited for a tenner, I would stay with them anyway. I don't mind paying a couple of quid over the odds but not double the price.

Re: 50% price increase in broadband

      No Mike

If you have Sky Talk, you will pay 10 for unlimited.

Its 10 per month with Sky Talk or 15 without. We, with the discount pay 10 per month for unlimited, but unless we take Sky Talk it will go to 15 per month as from January. It is 15 a month now for those without Sky Talk, but we get a 5 credit, making it 10
