If it's just the talk, make sure you give them I think 30 days notice of moving to BT or have you the line rental with sky as well?

If your contract is up with Sky there is no way they will charge you. I would imagine BT will welcome you with open arms and probably give you special offers rather than charge you. I take it you have Sky Talk and Rental?

They will not put a physical new line in for you, they would connect you to their existing lines. This could be better, or worse than your existing one. It would be expensive and not worth the bother, if you cancelled your existing and signed up for a new one they would probably just connect you to the same line you had. The only way you could be sure of getting another line would be to keep your existing for a while, that would be even more expensive and may be worse than the one you have.

Did you opt out of the recent Sky changes on it's telephone network? If you didn't you may find, come December, that you are no longer recognised by BT and will need a completely new installation. If that's the case expect a big bill (150+). I'm sure others on here understand the changes more than I do and can explain more. Or having now seen the answer above maybe that doesn't apply after all. Who said Sky was easy to understand!

Just a point about Posting - if you want to add/amend the posting click on the Edit button, make the changes and then SAVE. You will then have just one post rather than mutliple posts. (I've just done that for the last sentence in the paragraph above!)

Re: I am with sky talk if i return to bt line will i be charged?

That's true dms05, I had forgotten about Sky's New Highspeed Network. Being transferred from that means getting a new connection from BT. That does not mean a new line, the only changes to your existing line are made at exchange level, for which a high charge may be made. I think many are going to discover that Sky have transferred them without proper consultation and getting out will be costly. This was one of the things that got TalkTalk(CPW) a very bad name when they first started.

Re: I am with sky talk if i return to bt line will i be charged?

Sky wrote to every one of their customers a few weeks ago giving a date by which the customers would be switched to the new Sky Telecom Network. You could opt out (I did) by completing a simple page on Sky.com - Home, if you didn't do this you will now be part of the new Sky Network which has completely dissolved all links with BT. So it's no longer a case of BT/Sky talking with each other when customers swap suppliers.

So I'd check with BT before you land yourself with an unforeseen (and possibly large) charge.
