      Cool Re: wired connection ploblem

Hi bcm, Network connections only shows 'Local Area Connection', I don't think Sky shows in it! Does the pc connect to the internet?
Does the ethernet light show on connected channel? Try a different ethernet socket.

      What OS?

The first thing to check is if the NIC is actually enabled and properly installed. Look in the Device Manager and see if the are any marks against the Network Card. If there is no network adapter shown in the Device Manager then it is probably not enabled in the BIOS.

As mentioned you will not get a Sky network icon unless you use the Sky disk to set up the connection, which is a waste of time. Just use the browser icon to connect. If it has not been used on the internet before you will get the Internet Setup pane. Choose the option on this to Connect using a LAN.
