Broadband download speeds have dropped rapidly

      Evening all,

I have constantly been getting download speeds of 4mbps since moving into this house back in Feb 2008 (been a sky customer since then)

Back in July when they were doing the speed checks it has gone up to 5.2mbps so obviously i was quite chuffed with the increase.

This morning i found i couldnt connect to the internet so went and rebooted the router, and found the connection came back on again, it wasnt until this evening that i noticed it to be really slow, i have done random speed checks (including the recommended BT openworld test) and am now not getting anything faster than 1.5mbps.

I have been onto SKY 5 times tonight, and i have moved the router from upstairs (were it has always been) to the master socket, changed the filter, and plugged into the master filter. No difference.

Upshot after several tests from SKY is (quote) "oh well looks like you will have to live with it"

Sorry but with a rapid drop like that along with that attitude i find it unacceptable.

Sorry for the long rant but can anyone please recommend anything i can try, or say to SKY to get them to help me.

i must say some of the guys i spoke to were helpful, but i didnt get the call back i was also promised from one of them when one of their tests wouldnt work.

So any help please, its silly this drop and i really dont want to have to live with it.

      Thank you for reading!

      Lee

Same old drill - please post your router stats in its normal position and again connected directly to the test socket if you have one.

That's the thing we're after. Is that from the test socket?

Oh sorry, I didn't read that bit.

It looks like Sky have capped your connection speed, having a look at the stats whilst connected to the test socket should tell us if there's any problme with your internal wiring.

Re: Broadband download speeds have dropped rapidly

One of the best ways to get Sky to lift the cap is to contact them and state that you've improved your wiring and the stats now look better and ask if CST could take another look at improving your connection speed.

I don't actually live in Sherwood though that is my nearest exchange

Re: Broadband download speeds have dropped rapidly

      Afternoon all,
well i have been on to sky again this morning and went through the sane stuff again, but atleast this time the lady agreed something was wrong. I mentioned about being capped, but she didnt think I was.
So she's raised a ticket, for someone too look into it.
