      Exclamation 10Mbps Slowed to 160Kbps

My router stats are fine, I'm connected to the master BTOpenzone box and until recently I had been getting stable speeds of between 10 and 12Mbps. This has been fine for as long as those speeds have been available but then on Saturday morning I noticed that my connection was suddenly very slow, running at 240 to 280Kbps download (about 620Kbps upload).

The router stats continue to look fine, I tried some different cables, filters, rebooted the router, fiddled with the advanced settings, used a different network adapter for a bit and still nothing. It's now Monday, I've emailed sky and got no reply, but despite good router stats the best speed I can receive now is randomly between 140Kbps and 200Kbps.

Some sites take nearly a full minute to load, you can forget about YouTube/BBC iPlayer and multiplayer gaming is seeing a lot of packet loss regardless of whether I use a wired or Wi-Fi link. So now my upload speed is 4 times faster than my downloads, talk about bizarre.

I'd phone sky but I'm ill and have no voice to use

      Re: 10Mbps Slowed to 160Kbps

They promised to phone me within 72hrs, that was 5 days ago, customer service is poor at best.

I'm stuck with connect package and get 2mbps till 5pm then I'm down to 0.40Mbps till 12midnight and it's an absolute joke, your right about YouTube (forget it) as for trying to play online poker you can forget that too.

The throttling or "traffic shaping" is too much, how can you throttle a 2Mb connection by that much, it's outrageous and should be illegal, I can understand if you throttle a 10/20Mbps connection by 80% but ffs, give us minnows a break !!

      Grrrrr angry SKY customer.

      Re: 10Mbps Slowed to 160Kbps

I'm not on connect, that is a BT platform, I am on Sky's unbundled UNLIMITED (Max) package and so this should not be related to traffic management. My stats are:

Connection Speed 15182 kbps 765 kbps
Line Attenuation 40.5 db 20.0 db
Noise Margin 7.5 db 6.5 db

Today speeds have dropped to anything from 40Kbps to 130Kbps, this is getting stupid. I've also noticed that I can no longer access my Discovering/History/NGeo channels from 520 to 540 since the same time on Saturday morning. My account details remain correct though.

      Re: 10Mbps Slowed to 160Kbps

      Your stats look excellent.

Have you received any updates from MS?

How many PCs do you have connected?

Shut down all but 1 browser, Open a Command Prompt and type netstat /b. Do you recognise all the exes listed?

Can you also try this please - Start in Safe Mode with Networking and do a speed test at Sky User - Broadband Speed Tester.

I can no longer access my Discovering/History/NGeo channels from 520 to 540 since the same time on Saturday morning.
Do you mean on the TV, if so I doubt if they are connected, unless you have had a lightning strike.

run Test Result enter telephone then enter your mac address of router ie:0024f678de@skydsl this will show your current throughput can only run this test every 3 hours , run a few of these and call cst

This does not work with an LLU connection.

No new MS patches, 1 computer (tried laptop.. same thing), netstat progs all known and safemode makes no difference. This is an issue with Sky or the line itself, but I can't see or even hear any faults with the line and my stats look good.
