      safemode makes no difference
What was the result of your speed test?

      What OS(s) are you using?

Yeah I've done all that, I work in IT support .

Tried different computers, cables, filters, settings, routers.. pretty much everything most people could think of. I have windows Vista and have also tried with linux (unb) and XP.. same result, same result over Wi-Fi and wired connections. Here are some speed tests from Thinkbroadband.com's tester on ispreview.co.uk . the results seem the same no matter what time of day I run them or which tester I use.

Note my connection has become more unstable with more packet loss since the problems began so test2's upload performance is probably to do with a brief outage.

I seem to remember some time ago a problem like yours was traced back to a faulty card in the exchange. Swapping the connection cured the problem. How you get Sky to check this, I don't know. Some of Sky support will not listen to suggestions and treat everyone as morons. If you are lucky enough to get a CST tech who will listen, you may be able to get them to check the exchange.

To be fair, this type of problem, 9 times out of 10 is down to the users PC settings, they are not used to dealing with something out of the ordinary.

Exactly the same thing has happened to me, starting on Saturday. My speed has gone from 6Mb/s to about 250kb/s. I haven't phoned sky yet as last time I did it was extremely painful to say the least.

you both say 'it's painful', 'Sky don't have a clue' etc, etc...but what you've got to remember is that if it IS a network fault it has to be investigated and other customers also found to have the same issue...Sky aren't going to go all out to fix 1 customer...

Hi IAmNotTheEnemy, last time I phoned sky it was about a billing issue and nothing to do with broadband. It was painful because the chap didn't speak very good English so we couldn't understand each other.

Including the Exchange name in your profile often helps to identify if there is a problem with a particular exchange.

Exactly the same thing has happened to me
The symptoms may be the same but the cause could be quite different. Have you carried out the checks mentioned in this thread?
