      slow page loading

Hi, my internet browsing has been slowed down, pages take longer to load to the point that i haveto refresh the page, some take up to 30 secs and videos dont seem to be smooth playing, some need to buffer then play and then buffer again. iknow that others have alot worse but it really bothers me that mine has slowed down.

I'm on sky max and my stats are

      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 12274 kbps 921 kbps
Line Attenuation 39.5 db 20.2 db
Noise Margin 6.5 db 9.0 db

ive got my router connected to my master socket via an extension cable and my phone and two sky boxes are also connected by splitters. ive tried the router plugged straight into the master socket before and there was no real difference in speeds so i dont think its the extension cabling.

has anyone got any ideas as to whats up

Unplug the router and force a re-sync, it should connect a a slightly slower speed, you noise margin is a bit low and you may be getting errors on the line which could account for the slow speeds as the data will have to be resent.

      Re: slow page loading

To be honest I don't think you are doing yourself any favours using a telephone extension cable. Unless it is a proper twisted pair cable you are almost certainly picking up errors. If you have a Test socket, link below, plug it in there and try your stats. Your speed may not rise but your noise margin may, which reduces the chance of errors.

Do a speed test on Sky User - Broadband Speed Tester you should have a download of over 10Mbps with your sync speed. Do all tests with a wired connection, not wireless. If you don't then something is slowing your connection. Some reasons could be -
P2P software running in the background, this includes applications like iPlayer, make sure these are disabled when you do a speed test.
Trojans using your connection, try running netstat /b in a Command Prompt. Make sure you recognise everything that is connection. If in doubt run Malwarebytes Anti-Malware - Free software downloads and software reviews - CNET Download.com. and remove everything it recommends.
Go to DrTCP windows tcp tuning and tweaking - dslreports.com and run the Tweaktest, if you are using XP or earlier download and run the application. There are special recommendations if you are running Vista.
Finally, if the foregoing does not help, Start in Safe Mode with Networking, connect and try a speed test. If your speed then increases your security software is slowing you down so will have to be adjusted.
