      Smile Activation Question

      Hi,

I've checked the FAQs and beginner threads and can't see an answer in them, but if I missed it then I apologise.

I'm waiting for my Sky broadband account to be activated and the letter they sent me says that it will be "up and running by the end of the day on Monday, August 10th 2009". I'm wondering if Sky will only activate their broadband connection on that day or if it would be worth my time to keep checking before then?

      Thanks.

      Re: Activation Question

it'll be on the day and almost 100% not before...also, read the bit at the bottom about the speed your line starts at - it'll save a lot of confusion!!...

Thanks. And yeah I read that, it's quite frustrating that Sky have tested our line and decided it is capable of 10-20mb speed and yet are starting our connection at 4mb.

      Re: Activation Question

true, but at least you know...give it the 7-10 days and if not happy then call and it can be manually done...take this oppotunity to get your wiring/setup up to scratch and you should be fine...BT start all connections at 2272kbps so 4Mbps isn't that bad...still more than enough to use...

      Re: Activation Question

If you do not have an existing broadband connection there is nothing to stop you plugging the router in. Sometimes it starts before the given date, it depends on when BTO get to the exchange. If you do have an existing connection, when that goes down, plug in the Sky router and you should connect in less than an hour.
