Your attenuation has also increased which I think confirms the extension is the problem. It is a strange fact that extension cables can work fine for a long time then suddenly go bad.

Re: What can my line handle?

I've just ordered a filtered faceplate and extension kit from Run-IT-Direct taking advantage of their Sky User forum members discount.
I'll post back here when it's up and running.
      Thanks for your help.

Re: What can my line handle?

I had very similar stats to you with a DG834GT and got circa 15300k/960k syncs

Get CST to uncapp your line, once you've got your filtered faceplate installed.
Explain to them you want to try your line uncapped to see where it settles, and that you would like to test it like that for a few days to see how stable it is.

(The results in my sig are from a Billon 7402nx which syncs even higher then the Netgear @ 16300k/1140k)

Re: What can my line handle?

Spoke to Sky yesterday and they refused to increase my line speed. They say it's fine the way it is.

My latest stats after installation of the filtered faceplate and new extension.

      Conn : 12479 Down 671 Up
      LA : 32.0 Down 18.8 Up
      NM : 12.9 Down 17.5 Up

Re: What can my line handle?

Some of the Tier 1 agents can be really obstinate. It is hard to blame them as apparently they cannot see things like attenuation and noise margin, which really show what the line is capable of. CST can see this and more, so are more likely to be able to fix your line, getting to them is the problem. You can try ringing again and emphasise you have improved your wiring so know your line is capable of more. Ask them to increase your upload which is a good bit lower than it should be, if you get through to CST you can get the download fixed at the same time. If they still knock you back all you can do is wait for DLM to run on your line, which will either fix it or put you in a position to ask for a manual configuration.

Re: What can my line handle?

I'll have another go at Sky.

I've actually been considering an alternative broadband provider for my business (which I run from home). Opal are offering up to 24Mb for only 5/month + VAT. Snag is you have to take their line rental @ 13/month + VAT and, since my business line is provided by Virgin, I would have to change the number - very inconvenient

Still beats my current price plan and it provides a fixed IP and prioritised business traffic (umm hmm)

I've actually been quite happy with Sky's service so I might just use the Opal thing as leverage.

Re: What can my line handle?

That is a limited time offer, which for busines broadband is very low. Opal are the business broadband side of TalkTalk, so it looks like they intend to make their money out of phone calls.

You are aware that business use is not allowed using Sky broadband?

I wasn't aware of that (can't use Opal as leverage then). What do they class as business use anyway?

I have two wesbites but they are hosted by 1and1 as is my email. I browse the web for business purposes sometimes but the bulk of my internet use is personal and I don't even try to offset what business use I have against tax; it's just not worth the hassle.

I'm genuinely tempted by the Opal offer but changing my business phone number is really putting me off.

Re: What can my line handle?

This is what the T & Cs say about Business use-
      2. Using Sky Broadband
      (a) Sky Broadband is for private use by you and members of your household only. It must not be used for any commercial or business purpose.
The word 'any' seems to cover everything connected with business.
