The main issue is Sky, their Connect package is pants!

122kbs cannot be legal considering what we pay for ...up to 8mb.

It's not really about legal or illegal, it's more about if the service is of a reasonable standard.

I would argue that it is far from reasonable which is why I suspect Sky will let people leave during the contract if they push hard enough, they would not like this being decided by a small claims court case.

Just to confirm as have not tried recently (have in the past)... could ethernet connection improve things considering the stats I have (e.g. Ip profile of 135kbs). Am using wirless to get the stats shown earlier in thread.

Ethernet will make no difference to the stats. Although the actual download speed with wireless can be much lower, it makes no difference when taking stats. Your main problem is that you IP Profile is far to low. Your Profile should be about 3200. You will have to phone Sky and get them have BT reset your line or investigate why your Profile is so low. Your sync speed is also a bit low, but that is not the main problem. Your low speed has nothing to do with Sky throttling you.

As a backup to your phone call, which if Sky operate in the normal way to Connect complaints will get you nowhere, fill in a KANA form, copying and pasting your BT test into the form. Say something like "Can you please investigate and advise why my IP Profile/Throughput is so low".

Re: Router shows good speed but download very poor....

Thanks for the info have sentthe following message will keep the forum up to date on progress

Hi the below is the result of a BT speed test. I have had this very slow unusable speed for many months now and would like it fixed. We have and c. 3000kbps in the past but not often.

Please can you investigate why my line has an IP profile of just 135kbps. I understand this is nothing to do with the equipment in my house but caused by something at BTs end or Skys. Please help me resolve this frustrating issue as I am not getting a reasonable service from my "up to 8mb speed" product.

      BT speed test result
Test1 comprises of Best Effort Test: -provides background information.
      Your DSL connection rate: 3776 kbps(DOWN-STREAM), 448 kbps(UP-STREAM)
IP profile for your line is - 135 kbps
Actual IP throughput achieved during the test was - 114 kbps

Hi Matt as Isitme said https://mysky.sky.com/portal/site/sk...contactus/kana

fill in a KANA form, copying and pasting your BT test into the form. Say something like "Can you please investigate and advise why my IP Profile/Throughput is so low".
when your attenuation is 44dbs also copy and paste it is more proof
      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 3776 kbps 448 kbps
Line Attenuation 44 db 28 db
Noise Margin 10 db 21 db
44dbs have a look and you will see the speed 44dbs can give on a good line

Re: Router shows good speed but download very poor....

RIght have just managed to get ethernet connection to work (network adaptor was disabled...)

and got much beter results but prob not as good as should be?

Test1 comprises of Best Effort Test: -provides background information.
      Your DSL connection rate: 3776 kbps(DOWN-STREAM), 448 kbps(UP-STREAM)
IP profile for your line is - 2500 kbps
Actual IP throughput achieved during the test was - 940 kbps

If you wish to discuss these results please contact your ISP.

So will still see what sky say about profile but why is the wirless so poor and causing the very low ip profile?? getting lost now sorry...!

Have also disconnected lan since enabling network adaptor and am now getting 498kbps on wireless.... not getting this at all sorry..

Re: Router shows good speed but download very poor....

Hi Matt did you have a look at Sky router stats (speed, noise, attenuation) explained 44dbs
      Attenuation.............Approximate Line Length............Potential Connection Speed
      45db...................................3.2km...... .................................8500kbps
The Potential Connection Speed if you had a perfect line
Your DSL connection rate needs to be looked at and your I P profile

Re: Router shows good speed but download very poor....

Wow would love a speed like that (even half of it) after having months at 120kbps....Think am with it, question to sky is still relevant then by the sound of it. Will keep the forum posted.

Thanks for your guidance. You guy's provide a massive service to us people who are not are qualified to figure these things out but absolutly sick of the poor customer services that seem to grace all services...rant over..

      Thanks
