Only been with them a month and don't know if they will let me cancel with no fees.
Quite a few have left Connect while in contract and no one has reported being charged anything. That could change at any time though. Plusnet and ADSL24 are getting good reports for non-LLu operators.

Re: Another slow broadband connect customer

      Hi again
Ok, have just been on the phone to sky and have requested my MAC code. It's on its way. I have also been told because I'm under contract I have to write to cancel my BB. I was also told to write first before using the MAC code, could they cancel me before I use my MAC and i'll be left with no BB for ages. On the other hand if I use my MAC before my cancellation is sorted out are they more likely to charge me cancellation fees?

You would be well advised to get your MAC accepted by your new ISP before you cancel anything. As soon as it is accept email them your cancellation notice. Too often they mess up the MAC and it is not accepted by the other ISP. If you cancel then get the MAC rejected, you will be told that as you have cancelled you can't get another one. .You do not have to cancel to get a MAC and they have no right telling you that you should.

Sorry maybe wasn't too clear, they are sending out my MAC.
I was advised to write first ( as I'm under contract I can't email) before using my MAC. Obviously the timing is crucial as I don't want to be left with no BB.

Yes, I understand that. What I am saying is get it accepted by your new ISP before cancelling. Having a MAC means nothing until another ISP accepts it.

Maybe one of the others who have left in contract can give their experience. When it comes down to it ,you are leaving because the product is not fit for purpose, so I don't see how they can charge you.

Re: Another slow broadband connect customer

      Just an update.
I've now got my MAC and passed it on to ADSL24
Tried to use the kana form today, i'ts not working, keeps asking for details I've already input. Rang sky, passed around a bit but finally got onto someone helpful.
Once I had explained my situation she said not to use the kana form, big backlog to deal with, just send the letter it would be faster. Modern technology, great
      Why is it never easy
