      Blocking Sites = Slower Speed

      When i log into my router and block certain websites(3) it slows my speed down by 3meg.....and as suspected when i unblock these sites my speed shoots back p again.

      Any ideas peeps?

      I would imagine it is more to do with the fact that the router has to check each site which is causing the delays.

      An alternate method is to use OpenDNS | Providing A Safer And Faster Internet

      What sites are you trying to block? If you post them I will see if I can repeat your problem. It is hard to see how blocking sites can slow down your download speed. It may slow the browsing speed, but I would think this would only be by milliseconds, undetectable to humans.

      I have tried some blocking sites and it makes no difference to my speed.
