      Speed Loss

I have been with Sky for 18 months on Sky Mid. Slowly, over the last few weeks, my speed has dropped from 2.5 to as low as 1.8. I have no internal wiring and an ADSL faceplate fitted. These are my current stats from the test socket; my phone provider is BT. Is it worth phoning Sky and trying to increase my speed back to 2.5 again? I realise that my line is quite a distance from the telephone exchange.

Your sync speed for your line attenuation of 60db should be around 2500kbps mark. However your SNRM of 7db indicates your near as good as it gets. Target SNR is around 6.9db for sky.

Try a speed test from Here
      and post back please.

      Re: Speed Loss

Your through put is consistent with your sync rate, Taking in your current noise margin I don't think there is much scope for more speed. However if you feel its worth a punt do try giving sky a ring , but don't hold out to much hope.

Check your Broadband Details on your MySky page. If it says your line has been trained and set to a speed, phone Sky and ask them to change you back to G.DMT. If there is no mention of your line training, chances are your external line has deteriorated. Unless you have problems with your voice line, there is not a lot you can do about it.
