It's not the same problem, you are on Sky Max which has no traffic shaping. Start your own thread with router stats.

Re: Sky Connect - Speed Crawling

I've moved from sky connect just a week ago. My current sync with IDnet (still on BT lines) is 7667 down 448 up, at all times of the day. Try them out, but 1:- make suer you get a genuine mac code from sky, 2: BT screwed up my migration by creating a data stream circuit on 21cn, which has neant a few days offline. but support are easily reachable efficient and helpful.

      Hi all,

We're gonna go with Plusnet... I was with them a few years back, and had nothing but good service, brother in law is with them, and a friend has been with them for nearly 10 years, who lives in a town of comparable size, with no LLU, and he sings nothing but praise for them.

Sync is not an issue (as you can see from the stats), in fact we have recently gone up to the 7's from low 5's in the last few weeks. We used to sync at 8128 before DLM! If it is indeed traffic shaping and high usage, then the whole thing has sunk to new lows! I've a good mind to knock up a decent wireless antenna, and start cracking WEP :-)

Have just run a speed test, at 16.40, here is the result. I'll do another during the "peak period" and see what the difference is!

Hi James the DLM is not used with the connect package or was not it used to be Bts RAMBo short for Rate Adaptive Management Box still could be even though Sky have moved to IP Stream Connect. Have you tried a Bt speed test the instructions are on first page (Unofficial) FAQ - Sky Connect Users that will tell you exactly what speeds you are getting

Re: Sky Connect - Speed Crawling

      Hiya,

Well, the BT Test wont even complete!

It says the max configured download speed for my line is 6500k... the it runs the first best effort test, gets to 96%, flashes up connection timeout, then says "no. of threads is 4!" and then just hangs at 96%... no network activity whatsoever!

Either it's being overloaded, or I have a serious speed problem!

      James
