      how does this look

I've just removed the (2) orange wires from master socket, after doing the router/test socket routine and got an increase of over 2 meg which has remained constant since putting the socket back to normal.

I'm contemplating getting a filtered socket but wondered whether it would be worthwhile and whether any further increases would be possible with the noise margin i have? stats below.

pc is hardwired, no wireless although it is a rather lenghty wire.

Status TxPkts RxPkts Collisions Tx B/s Rx B/s Up Time
      WAN PPPoA 0 0 0 0 0 00:00:00
      LAN 10M/100M 26430 19812 0 15409 2086 00:35:32
      WLAN 11M/54M/108M 63 0 0 3 0 00:35:25

      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 9406 kbps 764 kbps
Line Attenuation 32.5 db 16.0 db
Noise Margin 8.3 db 14.5 db

      many thanks

      Re: how does this look

It's always worth fitting a filtered faceplate, at the very least you don't have to worry about getting a dodgy filter on another extension.

As for the long lead, if it is ethernet, you can run then 200m+ so yours shouldn't be a problem unless it is in a neighbours house
