Sky's 'Enjoy faster broadband at no extra cost' e-mail

Anyone else recieved one of these, I got it today and it mentions line testing for a faster speed. I assume that will be happening to my line soon? Or is it just a random e-mail that goes out.

I got it today also but i have an outstanding support call about the speed of my broadband with Sky so i will ask if there is a date for the testing to be run on my line and let you know if there is.

Not that they would do them at the same time but a firm date gives everyone a possible date. quick question does your service details say unavailable as well? Mine has since i got the email.

They did say originally that upgrades would take place between July and September. My line was put on DLM on the 16th and the up sync so far has increased from 14378 to 19661. It should finish in 4 or 5 days though I expect it to stay as it is now.

      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 19661 kbps 980 kbps
Line Attenuation 19.0 db 8.8 db
Noise Margin 7.1 db 7.5 db

All existing customers are due to go through DLM, this is scheduled before September and has been discussed on this forum numerous times in the last month or so.

      what does that mean?

if it means you've recorded a call then that's against the law as the agent has to give his permission to be recorded...

if it means nothing then that's fine!!!

Just meant that when i speak to the engineer about my line today i'll see if i have an eta on when i am going through DLM.

Don't panic i haven't recorded a call with the engineer i spoke to. But i have taken notes so i know what i said to them in case i speak to a different one today.

and that's fine!! what was said should be on record Sky's end too, especially if it went to CST...

no idea on when existing customers are being turned onto DLM as yet, but depending on the agent you get they might do it anyway

Re: Sky's 'Enjoy faster broadband at no extra cost' e-mail

people wont see 1.3mbit upload as sky wont set the snr margin low enough for this , they set it to 7 or whatever it is if it was lowered to 6 most people would see a big improvement on the new upload speeds

So you think Sky can record phones calls and we can't record calls to them? I think you are wrong, have a look here -
Recording phone calls law. Legality of home phone taps in UK.
