      new router

hi all, ive been with sky for at least 4 years now and had the same router through out. obviously after 4 years it has taken a few knocks i.e. antenae is coming loose and the adapter is falling apart giving me connection problems.
Has any one managed to get a replacement from sky?

      Yes, loads of people have.

Unplug the router then ring them and advise you have no light on it at all, they will send a new one out.

      Re: new router

Yep. Ring sky up and go through to sky bb technical support. You'll be asked a couple of questions when you say you have no lights on the router (straight off the screen ha..). As Smithy said, unplug the router first from the telephone socket. You'll be asked:

      - Try a different electrical socket
      - Check connections, power supply etc.
      - Is this the first router or any other power socket available to change over

They'll then raise it for a 'gate keeper' to look at to replace and hey presto, new CPE in 3-5 days.

      Re: new router

And then hope the "Gate Keeper" doesn't run a certain tool after the call and see your router is online. This will lead to a call back..... and no router. What adaptor is coming apart? Sometimes honesty is the best policy, ring them up tell them your router antenna is broken and the wireless is not working correctly any more/

      Re: new router

Ring them last thing at night and then plug it in in the morning. If they ring (which they won't) the next day tell them that it came back on after you kicked it but still turns on/off all the time.

Gate Keeper - funniest thing I've ever heard (sounds like something out of Ghostbusters!!!)...OR just get to a normal call center and any agent can send it...
