I think my Sky Broadband unlimited is capped at 4 Meg.

New to sky broadband and skyuser.co.uk, been up and running since the 9/07/09 and I was expecting fluctuations in speed etc because of the DLM on the first 10 days etc etc. But ive just been constantly stuck on 4096 kbps download stream. I was expecting 17/18 meg. Im thinking that sky have capped the line. Anyway thought id post my router stats and maybe someone in the know could enlighten me as to why im just getting a constant 4096 kbps. I have the router plugged in at the master socket. I tried the test socket, and still had the same speed. I also have 3 sky boxes connected to extensions with filters attached.

Many thanks

David

Well you only went active on the 9th July so you are still in DLM which runs for 10 days and speed will increase over that period providing you leave the router switched on for the full 10 days and have the set-up correct ,but if you want speed increased you can call the tech support to have the dlm suspended by cst but personally i would let it run its course it will improve if you still see no change after the 10 days then call .

DLM hasn't actually started yet by the look of things, you're still on the initial activation speed for Max. It can 2 or 3 days for DLM to start in anger.

Re: I think my Sky Broadband unlimited is capped at 4 Meg.

You've only been on DLM for ~2 days or less, or maybe not even on it yet. Just keep the router connected & in the same socket for 10 days and your speed will increase.

You can login to My Sky and then to Broadband=>Service Details to check whether line testing is in progress.

Re: I think my Sky Broadband unlimited is capped at 4 Meg.

I just went up to 8 meg! one more question if i may. Will my router firmware update by itself? Im currently on 1.5Sky. Am i correct in saying the latest firmware for the sagem 2504 is 1.9Sky?

Re: I think my Sky Broadband unlimited is capped at 4 Meg.

Ok, thought id post my router stats for the new speed im on. Ive noticed the noise margin drop a bit, and the attenuation go up a little. How much speed will my line be able to cope with?

Re: I think my Sky Broadband unlimited is capped at 4 Meg.

Hi again, with the line attenuation of 30db you could reasonably expect to get around 14-16mb sync, maybe more. Having said that, your SNRM is already low at 10.5db with sync of 7616kbps.
As your on DLM sit tight and let it do its job. After DLM has finished then post back your stats, we can then evaluate from there.
Did you take those stats from the master socket test socket rear of the split face plate? assuming you have a NTE5 master socket that is.
Like I suggested hang on in there until DLM is finished. We can then better advise you.

Try from the test socket if you have one to see your internal wiring is causing problems and repost your stats.
