Re: I think my Sky Broadband unlimited is capped at 4 Meg.

The filtered faceplate will split the ADSL and phone signal at the master socket, then only the pnoe side will be connected to the other wiring/extensions and can then cause no interference to the ADSL side.

You will obviously have to leave the router connected to the filtered faceplate but all your other extensions ect will work for phones only without causing problems.

LOL my speed has been decreased to 5.5 meg! i take it, is that normal for a reconfiguration of a line?

Thanks man, that makes sense to me. so without a filtered faceplate the adsl is sharing with all the other extensions My reconfiguration has caused my speed to lower almost straight after i got off the phone, but im hoping sometime this evening or tomorrow ill be getting better speeds.

Btw, quick question, how do you update the firmware on the Sagem router. Ive seen the tutorial on skyuser but that method has not worked for me, im currently on 1.5Sky, and the latest is 1.9Sky.

It should do it itself in time.

Don't forget to leave the router in the test socket until your filtered faceplate arrives.

It is not normal if the line is being manually configured. It looks like you may have been put back on DLM training, so keep your router plugged in and powered up for the next 10 days.

ah well, itll surely still get the same results, just takes a bit longer than manually configuring it.

Re: I think my Sky Broadband unlimited is capped at 4 Meg.

Ok, so the adsl nation xte-2005 faceplate arrived, fitted it no problems, fitted the extensions to it no problems using a disposable idc tool. The faceplate is awesome, i was getting exactly the same noise margin etc than when conencted to my test socket! and now dont have to use any of those ugly filters round the house. Removed the bell wire too.

After a few long, rather tedious phone calls to sky I eventually got through to someone in customer solutions who was extremely helpful. He reconfigured my line straight away and also asked if i was a gamer (which i am) and said he could reduce my ping considerably. My connection now is not only an acceptable sync speed, its ridiculously fast at loading pages and streaming media etc! I was on virgin broadband 20 meg before sky, and i have to say, Sky have completely trumped my old fibre optic connection, which i wasnt sure was possible with adsl. Im a very very pleased Sky customer now!

Thanks to everyone on skyuser.co.uk for replying to my thread. Ill no doubt be on this forum again with another tale of woe in the near future...

This is the biggest problem with Sky, they have some excellent agents but unfortunately they have many more who are either poorly trained or just could not give a damn as long as they get paid.

Good to see you have finally got what the Rolling Stones couldn't
