is it true that say if you have 2 telephone lines, that it will increase the speed of your broadband?
      I cannot see how....

In essence line bonding splits the ADSL frequency band between two or more lines to increase the amount of available bandwidth an so improve performance over a single line.
If you mean just connecting two lines together, then while this will reduce the resistance of a line, it will not reduce its attenuation, it may even increase so it would not help.

What about 2 phone lines, 2 broadband connections, 2 ethernet cards?

I think I know what you mean, but line bonding is differant it the it re-uses the same good frequencys over the two lines, the information to be sent being split between them.
