Angry Intermittent broadband connection following power cut

      Hello
This is my first post so please bear with me...
We are connected to Sky broadband with a Sagem wireless router.
We have a PC upstairs which uses windows xp and is wirelessly connected via a dongle and a laptop using windows vista which is newer and connects wirelessly without a dongle.
Last Friday, we had several extremely short (around 5 seconds) power cuts and since then the upstairs desktop PC broadband connection keeps dropping out.
I have turned the router off at the router only and it has actually made the dropping out worse !
Unfortunately I am not technically minded and think this is probably a very easy thing for someone with some PC knowledge to sort out - but not me regrettably.
Would be extremely grateful for any assistance.

First thing to check on a wireless issue is .... can you connect wirelessly to the router. If not then it's the wireless causing the issue and not the connection onto the router.
When it goes off do you lose any lights on the router or does the 4th light go amber at all? If not try going to http://192.168.0.1 via your web browser. If you cannot get there then it may well be the wireless channel needs changing.

      Thanks PaulSky

The thing is, my laptop connects wirelessly no problem to the same router so would that be a problem with the connection ? The laptop does not drop out of connection at all.
I will try to connect to the address you mentioned on the desktop PC I'm having a problem with and see what happens.
