That's what you get when you are not specific

Send another one and explain you have improved your wiring and would like the line configured for it's maximum speed.

Gotta love the sky helpdesk, was told that the reason it has been reduced is because its the max my line can support lol even though i had a connection of 16Mb for the last year and a bit.

You will have been put on auto configure which always seems to set the speed too low. I thought now they were using DLM that would have been a thing of the past. Phone up and tell them what Smithy suggests, they will either do it or put you on DLM.

      Re: Random disconnects concern

Well finally got through to a chap that stated that he can't understand why the speed was dropped as the call was closed with them and no further notes added!!

He has adjusted the line (i asked to go DLM as i know how strongly IANTE feels about it lol) but apparently it had already been run and took 1 day (!?!) so it was adjusted to 19MB (can take 20 but we decided to drop it for the purposes of testing)

I'm now going to run router stats for the next few days to see if the drops in SNR continue.

Connection Speed 19216 kbps 1022 kbps
Line Attenuation 13 db 5 db
Noise Margin 7 db 9 db

      Re: Random disconnects concern

I doubt it took a day - likely that it failed to run so stopped!!

With regards to the auto-regrades - they're done at least 3 times a day and will never go as we just about match the tickets we close to the incoming cases...seems we're fighting a losing battle regards to calls...

..and I bet half of them are related to DLM.

      Re: Random disconnects concern

No - not at all...most are no connection at all!! Prob see about 5-10 new connections/regrades where the person has called in saying it's slow...seems sales are either stupid or ignoring the DLM training...

Gets annoying have to call customers and explain it to them, most are fine once they know!!...

      Re: Random disconnects concern

I'm really happy, with the connection, got to speak to BT about the external PSTN lol. Because i live above a shop if i stand out side my front door the line comes off the pole and droops to a point i can headbutt it or a kid can swing on it (and has ).
