I doubt it, open it and check it's ok and all the connections are good, take a pic and post it if in any doubt.

      Re: Random disconnects concern

      I get random disconnects too....I have a stable 7.6mb with sky mid (connected at 8188/412 - atten 33db / 18db & snr 9-15db / 24db)

The last few have been at 4am router syncs back up no probs, it some times happens at 11pm... im hoping this wont effect my speed when DLM kick in...

I have an XTE2005 faceplate with NO extensions on it, router (netgear) is plugged into the XTE2005 via original adsl cable and is about a meter away from socket. Cant think other than outside noise what can be causing it, I had a conservatory built recently and the cable line was left behind it (cable runs down the wall and the conservatory was bolted over it) but im 99% sure the random disconnects ahve been going for about a year.

I used to get the disconnects with BT all the time as my SNR kept dropping to 0 (or -212348348348343) but after getting the XTE faceplate all was fine, until the last year that is.... could there be a prob with faceplate? Ive taken it off and cleaned it all out, I only have wires #2&#5 connected no bell wire and no other extensions.

      any ideas?

With mine i'm starting to think its the wiring of that damn junction box!!!! I would rewire it but i believe (correct me if i'm wrong) that is the responsibility of BT as they are responsible up to the master socket (test section at least) and as the line comes into the house through that then to the master socket i'll be calling them (stating nothing about the BB of course but more the annoying intermitant crackly noise on the line )

I wouldn't bother, just fix it, it will only take a minute. It does all look good though, cannot see anything that could cause an issue.

      Re: Random disconnects concern

You suggest i strip it out and do a rewire? Should there be a lead to the earth? Only reason i didn't do it before is there doesn't appear to be any margin for error if it goes wrong lol

      No need for an earth.

Looking again, it seems fine, maybe just check that all the connections are tight , remove them and re-make them if it makes you feel any better

You have checked the master side also I take it. Ensure terminal 3 is not connected.

      Re: Random disconnects concern

lol all snug, might tape off the loose ones to try reduce noise that way, master socket actually has nothing connected on the back of the xte faceplate (presume its because i dont have any extenstions).

Still scratching my head over the noise fluctuations tho...

      Re: Random disconnects concern

I finally submitted a KANA to sky a few days ago to try and figure out this, got the standard response stating that it has been passed to CST and yesterday found my connection speed has been dropped!!!

Connection Speed 11866 kbps 764 kbps
Line Attenuation 12 db 5 db
Noise Margin 14 db 18 db

Not bad considering all i asked was is it normal lol
