      Re: Random disconnects concern

As I said earlier download and kick off RouterstatsLite so you can monitor that noise margin throughout the night. BTW what's the firmware version you're running?

Router stats running as suggested and the firmware version is 2.02.44 which i believe is the most current one.

The reason I asked is because I've tried the netgear with the older 2.02.34 firmware and the noise margin was jumping all over the place, I think the newer firmware may have fixed this. Hopefully routerstats will show if there is any particular pattern to your disconnections.

      Re: Random disconnects concern

Had a hiccup at 19:32 when the noise dropped to 0 as well as speed but didn't count as a disconnect, looking at the overall stats and it sits at about 9 but does every now and then bounce between 9 and 11. Any suggestions so far?

      Re: Random disconnects concern

As always intermittent faults are a real b*gg*r to find.

I take it you have no other extension sockets apart from the one that feeds the phone and Sky box in the living room.
Is this wired from the front of the faceplate or the rear?

Do you have (or can borrow) a corded phone to do a quiet line test on your voice line.

If so plug into the test socket and dial a single digit to kill the dial tone and listen.
You should just have a slight hiss.
Any crackles or crosstalk (voices or ringing in the background) would indicate a line problem which your phone supplier has to fix (don't mention broadband).

Are you fed underground or overhead?
Have you (carefully) checked that any connections in accessible junction points on your external line are clean, dry and tight?

Was it particularly dark at 1932 yesterday?
Did the street lights come on?

      Andy

      Re: Random disconnects concern

Only telephone socket in the whole property is the Master socket, i do have a corded phone kicking about so i shall give that a crack, the feed comes overhead and the streetlights don't normally come on till about 21:00 as at 19:32 it's still quite light, now that you mention it though the feed does pass about a metre away from the light so i suppose em interferance is a possibility.......

      Re: Random disconnects concern

Did you let routerstats run throughout the night until this morning? In which case what was the result?
