Slow Slow Broadband

Hello guys, first post on here, woo hoo!!
Right, i have got 8mb medium broadband and its really really slow!
I dont a few speed tests and im getting 0.79mbps when they complete and 0.25 upload speed.
Why is this? I know im quite far from my local exchange but sky said i would be getting 1.5mb minimum.
A few people say i may benefit from a iplate?

Can you post router stats? Also are you using wireless?

hmm, i just had a fiddle with the sockets down stairs, i think i had a splitter on first THEN the microfilter. Now im getting 1.76mb which is obviously better.
Router stats are:
ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 2044 kbps 412 kbps
Line Attenuation 59.5 db 29.9 db
Noise Margin 7.3 db 22.5 db

I have already ordered a iplate from ebay to see if that makes a difference too.
Any suggestions on increasing the speed more?

You could try getting the stats from the test socket to see if your noise margin increases, failing that I think you are getting just about your lot.
