Can someone explain this? (Noise & attenuation change)

Original stats during 1st 10 days on DLM

ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 12284 kbps 606 kbps
Line Attenuation 15.5 db 6.3 db
Noise Margin 8.7 db 22.0 db

After this line testing was completed, on the 26/6/09 my line went on to stabilastion again for 10 days.

ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 19004 kbps 980 kbps
Line Attenuation 15.5 db 6.4 db
Noise Margin 7.3 db 7.5 db

I'm not complaining about the speed I am getting sollid 1.85mb when downloading from Microsoft so no probs there. I just want to understand why there has been a drop in my noise margin.

My router is plugged into the hard wired extension socket which is about 20ft from the master socket (no test socket inside), both sockets have all connections removed except for 2 & 5.

Thx in advance

Re: Can someone explain this? (Noise & attenuation change)

As speed increases the noise margin decreases, when it hit 6.9db then you are at you max stable speed.
