      Just Got Connected Help

Ordered the Sky phone, Broadband and TV for the 16.50 deal but then upgraded to Sky Unlimited yesterday around mid-day, I was just wondering if someone could explain and tell me if my router stats are ok i.e. Noise Margin, Line Attenuation etc ? I was wondering why it says that my downstream is 4094 and upstream 510 ? Before i forget, one more thing, how long will it take for my broadband to be at its optimum/best connection.

If anyone could help would greatly appreciate it .

      Thanks

      Re: Just Got Connected Help

It takes about 10 days during which time your speeds will increase Do not unplug your router during this time or you may extend the training period

Brian said everything you need to know - assuming you received your activation letter red it all as it tells you it starts at 4Mbps and goes up...

      Lewis

With a line attenuation like this Line Attenuation 10.5 db 4.7 db you must be across the road from your exchange. Given that fact you should get full speed in due course. But follow the advice already given. Don't unplug your router or switch it off and let the DLM do its job. If after 10 days or so, maybe earlier you should see the difference.
Post back here with your stats after the DLM has finished.

      Re: Just Got Connected Help

someone else may be able to correct me on this but with the attenuation on your line being so low (meaning your very close to the exchange) i'd expect you to get the full 20Mb. But your noise margin seems low considering so i dont think the modem with sync that high. can you hear any noise on your telephone line (pos and crackles) when you press a single digit and listen?

Are you connected into your master phone socket in the house?

      Re: Just Got Connected Help

Im not sure if I am in the master socket or not because I just moved into this place a few weeks back, is there any way I can check without disconnecting my router ?

Yea when I use my phone there is a very slight crackly sound, is that normal or should it be crystal clear ?

      Re: Just Got Connected Help

Its not a good idea during the training period to try and sort any wiring problems, wait for the ten days to end and see what speeds you have.
