Question Unsure about Sky's Line Testing

I'm hoping someone with some knowledge could review my stats and give an opinion of if I should expect more from my new Sky connection please? My exchange is capable of16mb.
      According to My Sky:

      Download Speed
Your connection has been set to a download speed of up to
      11.0Mb (11264Kb)

      Upload Speed
Your connection has been set to an upload speed of up to
      1.2Mb (1216Kb)

According to SamKnows my distance from exchange is: Direct: 0.35 miles
      (appx)*By Road: 0.5 mi

      My Router Stats are:
Connection Speed Downstream-11263 kbps Upstream-884 kbps
Line Attenuation D/S-23.0 db U/S-11.7 db
Noise Margin D/S-20.3 db U/S-9.0 db

      Any advice appreciated

Re: Unsure about Sky's Line Testing

You sure those noise margins are correct ? They are usually the other way round ie up is usually around twice the down.
If its right I would try your test socket as its way too high.
With a line attenuation of 23 ( mines 24 ) you should be able to get 16 easily.
I've just noticed youve said "new connection" and if so then you will still be under DLM.
Leave the router online all the time and see how things go.

Re: Unsure about Sky's Line Testing

      Here is a screen cap:

I have been connected with Sky for 13 days now. Whenever I logged into "My Sky" it always said "line under test" until yesterday where it stated "Line connection testing completed on 28/06/2009"

You should easily be getting the full download speed, ring Sky CST and get them to manually set the line.

Re: Unsure about Sky's Line Testing

There is a problem somewhere, or your upload speed would be higher, this could have caused DLM to set your line low. Try changing the filter and if you have one, plug into the Test socket, link below.

Re: Unsure about Sky's Line Testing

      Thank you for the replies.

I shall test the Master Socket first and post the results.

      Cheers

Re: Unsure about Sky's Line Testing

Ok.... here is a comparison of my normal set up test and the Master Socket test:

      Line Attenuation:
Normal Set up: U/S 23.0 db Master Socket: U/S 23.0 db
Normal Set up: D/S 11.7 db Master Socket: D/S 11.8 db

      Noise Margin
Normal Set up: U/S 20.3 db Master Socket: U/S 20.7 db
Normal Set up: D/S 9.0 db Master Socket: D/S 7.5 db

Do these results have any consequence?

      Any help is appreciated

Re: Unsure about Sky's Line Testing

Are you sure you are in the test socket and not just the master socket? The master socket is located underneath the faceplate and requires you to remove it to access it.

Re: Unsure about Sky's Line Testing

Yes Smithy. I removed the cover plate as detailed in Isitme's link.
I shall try a different filter tonight (should of thought of doing that at the time!) and post the results later.

Re: Unsure about Sky's Line Testing

I have just tried a different splitter in the BT Test socket and have attached the results.

There doesnt seem to be any significant change between this test and the previous Test Socket test detailed above.

Would someone be so kind as to advise me further? Or perhaps I should speak to CS?

What I really would like to know is do I have a just cause in speaking to CS? Or should I be happy with what I have?

      As always... any help appreciated!
