Sky Broadband says sorry, explains PSN Euro connection issue
From UK and been having problems accessing and/or using the PlayStatin Network between 5PM and midnights the past week? That would be thanks to Sky Broadband. The company has since sent out their apologies, explaining what the problem was.

A rep for the company said:

Our network management system mistakenly classified PlayStation 3 traffic in a way which meant some customers using their consoles to access the Internet may have had their speeds reduced, in line with our network management policy for Sky Broadband Connect. This was a mistake and resulted from a systems error, for which we apologise.

Our team is working on fixing this as a matter of urgency. All other Sky Broadband users are unaffected, as there are no traffic management policies in place for our no-network broadband services
      .

Don't worry, though. The traffic management is only applicable for those who are subscribed to them, and are using peer-to-peer application (torrents).

There are no restrictions in place for applications such as web browsing, email, video and audio streaming, instant messaging and VOIP during peak times. And we do not put restrictions on our network outside of peak times (5PM to midnight).

Maybe not specific management but until they sort out the capacity then streaming and VOIP and maybe a few other latency dependant protocols are being affected, even if they are not being officially restricted.
