Speedtes.net is not always accurate and can sometimes give ridiculous results. The best way to check with BT is the official BT Performance tester. Details on how to do this are in this thread -
(Unofficial) FAQ - Sky Connect Users

Other than that I would recommend our own SkyUser tester, this is as accurate as any. -

      whats the latest update then?

      Sky are looking into it?

this is ridiculous they cant limit anything, if we pay for it, we should get it, especially if it effects gaming

gaming isn't a priority - browsing is...so they get first shout...

and why shouldn't they limit it? if you don't like it you can easily move ISP...

in the meantime - enjoy the sunshine

I don't follow your reasoning there, why should you get special privileges for gaming? I have just discovered that PSN probably use P2P. If that is true, it is not going to help, P2P is being throttled by most ISPs.

i didnt mean it like that, its just you pay for 8MB and i can get 5 meg which im fine with but then they go tinkering with their system limiting waay to much, ye its fine limiting at peak times but they have done something to stop it working with PSN

What they appear to have done is, by throttling the P2P connections so much they have rendered the PSN unusable. PSN is a P2P network. With P2P networks being throttled it means we cannot log in and our connection is unstable.

Sky and BT are to blame as they are throttling the connection.

Well at the moment, Sky are doing themselves no favours

They are one of the worst for this now but the problem will affect all the platforms if they don't do something to put it right.

Couple this with the changes to the Mid package, Sky could find themselves in a media storm if the likes of the Gadget show or some of the more popular magazines/websites get a hold.
