      Re: Strange Disconnects

I dont want to jinx it or anything (not that I even believe in jinxing), but so far the connection has been up since 5pm yesterday. Although I thought it had dropped at around 9pm last night, the uptime on the router didnt reset so I guess it was just my computer.

I should have a XTE-2005 Faceplate coming tomorrow, so will install that and possibily reconnect my extension.

Thanks for all the help, Stew

Are you looking at the correct uptime? The one you want is opposite WAN, it is not the System time as many think. The router can be up and running, even if the internet connection is down.

      Re: Strange Disconnects

How long have you been connected, DLM may be running on your line and this resyncs the line frequently.

The intrusion attempt means that your router has been probed by someone from Zagreb. Nothing to worry about, just the router reporting that it has done its job.

      Re: Strange Disconnects

If you mean how long I have been on skybroadband, then around 3-4 months. If you mean how long my broadband was connected before disconnecting the previous time, around 10 hours.

When it disconnected, the WAN uptime kept going asif the connection was still up. But I couldnt connect to the internet from any of my computers.
The light was green for the @ sign, but the sign with a tick wasent on. I'm not quite sure what the tick sign stands for (on the front of the sagem router)

This means you are not disconnecting from the internet and the problem lies elsewhere. The tick just flashes briefly when you sync with the exchange, it is not on all the time. If you are still using the switch it could be that that is causing the problem. If you are, can you connect a PC direct to the router, to rule out the switch being faulty?

      Re: Strange Disconnects

I ruled that out on the previous disconnect, we have 4 computers. One right next to the router which is connected to it, Infact I have another switch that is used to connect xbox360 and PC to the network. My setup is like this:

      Re: Strange Disconnects

Just went down again, whilst connected to the test socket . Was right next to the router at the time, the @ light was green and the wireless light was flashing even though I wasent using it. So Ive turned off the wireless, also found this in the log:

      Code:
Jun 21 13:38:05 daemon crit pppd[634]: Clear IP addresses. Connection DOWN.
Jun 21 13:38:05 daemon crit pppd[634]: Clear IP addresses. PPP connection DOWN.

Jun 21 13:38:16 daemon crit pppd[634]: Received valid IP address from server. Connection UP.
Does it make sense to anybody? I think I'll call sky and get them to check my line, or send me a new router.

      P.S, Sorry for double post.

      Re: Strange Disconnects

Sky made some adjustments to my connection, noise margin is now at 15db:

      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 4608 kbps 864 kbps
Line Attenuation 42.0 db 23.5 db
Noise Margin 15.8 db 13.0 db

Just need to wait and see
