      Router Problem !!

Any help here would be appreciated.

My wireless laptop detects my router but doesn't connect to the net. The light on the router that is supposed to blink amber before going solid green goes blank after flashing amber for about 5 seconds.

Calling Sky, I was told it was either an interference from another phone in the house being left off the hook, which is impossible as the only phone line we use is for the broadband, or that the filter is faulty.

I replaced the filter with a new one and still no joy. The light I am referring to is the one that flashes amber for some seconds before going solid green (On the netgear routers it has an '@' sign next to it).

By the way, if you're wondering how I am online, I used my wireless laptop to log on to someone's elses router, so my router is still not working.

      Any advice is greatly appreciated!!

      Re: Router Problem !!

It looks like your router is faulty. Unplug it from the mains and phone Sky and tell them there are no lights coming on in the router. Tell them you have tried a different power socket and it is still the same. Not entirely the truth, but it is the easiest way to get out of the problem, some agents are very reluctant to send out a replacement router, yours needs replaced.
