      Sky BB question

Kinda embarassed to be asking this as I work for sky Not BB tech though. But.....

Currently in a contract with AOL who are LLU in my area, receiving between 2-3 Mbps on average, but with any line check done through BT, via postcode, tel number etc, it always says maximum of 0.5Mbps.

As I work for sky I am entitled to their own BB but only connect available in my area as sky are not LLU in my exchange, so If I had to switch over to sky for their BB services would I be only likely to receive the 0.5Mbps as estimated by all DSL checkers? Am I only getting upwards of 2 Mbps due to the fact AOL are LLu in my exchange?

      Re: Sky BB question

Can you post your stats off the router?

Even with LLU, you are still using the same phone line so you should see similar speeds top speeds.

The difference is really the fact the the Sky connect package will currently not exceed 8mb for people who are on it with good lines ompared to upto 24mb on LLU for people with good lines.

We've just tested your line and can confirm your line supports the UK's most complete broadband package, BT Total Broadband. We estimate your maximum download connection to be up to 0.5 Mbps (Megabits per second).

But I get similar results with any DSL checker, Including Tags on the line.

      Re: Sky BB question

I would expect around 4Mb on that set of stats to be honest.

      Re: Sky BB question

So, The only reason the DSL checkers are suggesting arounf 0.5 Mbps is due to the fact I am almost 2 and a half Kilometers from my exchange? Due to the fact they use simple straight line calculations from exchange to door?

      Re: Sky BB question

Are you sure you are on an LLU connection? Your stats look like an ADSLMax connection, similar to Sky's Connect.
