      noise margin low, any advice.

well i think i already know why i get a low noise margin, as i recently moved my router to my bedroom, and to get the phonline to work i have to plug an extension from the other room into my room.

since then i get a lower noise margin and ive heard anything below 7 is worring about. i get a slightly lower sync speed which im not too bothered about. can anyone take a look and see if its a major problem

Re: noise margin low, any advice.

You have quite a few CRC errors and eroded second errors which are indicative of noise on your line. up time 3.13 hours. Your sync rate should almost max out with a line attenuation of 21.5db.
So defiantly your extensions are causing problems.

Re: noise margin low, any advice.

It always makes me wonder why - When people are obv happy to run a phone extension cable, to have the router near the PC, then why not leave the router near the master socket and run a network cable to the PC instead???

Re: noise margin low, any advice.

If you reboot your router when the noise margin is as low as possible, it should resync at a lower speed with the default noise margin. You may actually be worrying about nothing, many routers will work right down almost to zero. If your connection is not actually dropping I would not worry about it.
