Timing out towards the end just means the servers are set to not respond to the command. What are your response times once you get to alter.net? Mine go from around 20ms to over 180ms.

The proxy is re-routing your data, bypassing the bottleneck. Looks like a server routing issue on other side of the pond..... joy.

Just got off the phone, to a man I could barely understand. Apparently they're aware of this problem many UK users are facing. He informed me that they're working on it as we speak and it should be fixed within twenty-four hours. Which is hardly believable, as after he stated it would be best to try again from three days or onwards.
Typical, same story with every problem they have.

Just thought i'd share my experience with you,
360 user with sky bb, since Tuesday i have not been able to surf xbox.com without a 4/5 min delay between pages, prior to Tuesday i could surf that site in seconds.
My 360 has had the same problem too, cant dl the marketplace content but can sign in and browse the content and see all the new stuff that has been updated.
Called xbox support and after a 72 minute call i was left without a gamertag or fully working 360 and just abandoned by them with the promise of a call back in 48 hours.
Well i managed to get back up and running myself but still not able to dl from marketplace.
Ok, now the weird stuff, if i use my wifes profile which is a silver account i can access the marketplace content without a problem, i called a mate who only has silver account and sky bb and he has no problems either, so could any of you guys that are having the same issues as me try a silver account and report back.

Well at least they have admitted to the issue, it may just be a routing issue causing a bottleneck which is fairly easy to resolve, if it's an issue caused by hardware failure that can take a bit longer.

i know this may sound daft but will this affect gaming i was online last night and lag was terrible worse than usual
