I actually work for sky. I can guarentee you it says 12000 odd on LAMA and that trying to configure it anywhere past 1024kb, it will sync OK but the amount of error build up makes it unusable after a matter of ten minutes, not even.

Anyway, hope this youtube thing sorts itself out soon - I'm a huge youtube addict.

Not noticed the google bit. Maybe a changing of the servers?

      re: Youtube streaming very slowly

I've been experiencing slow loading videos a few times in the past week. I'm pretty sure it's youtube related and not Sky, a friend on Bethere has also experienced these slow loading speeds.

I hope they fix it soon.

At least I'm not alone in this! Streaming like usual at the moment:

Let's see how long it lasts.

Sorry, there must be something wrong with your equipment. If you were 12 Km from the exchange you would not get ADSL at all. Your attenuation suggests you line is between 4 - 4.5Km long which should support at least 4Mb.

      re: Youtube streaming very slowly

I've got a phase 2 netgear that I've had since I got the bb (around 2 odd years ago). Was syncing at 1.4mb or so for around 2 years without any problems and was also in an extension socket at the time WITH an extension wire for the DSL. Then became unstable a few months ago so configurations were done and it's been stable for a good while now. If you reckon it's something stopping me from getting the 4mb, then albeit I'm open to suggestions as here's everything I've tried:

      - Tried replacement CPE (dsl cables, filters, power cable and a phase 2 sagem). Stats from the sagem:

Connection Speed 800 kbps 256 kbps
Line Attenuation 63.5 db 31.5 db
Noise Margin 14.4 db 26.0 db

      - Only using two telephone sockets:

Master in hallway: filter > non extension dsl cable into modem port
Extension in living room: filter > telephone line into phone port

      - Tried test socket and stats are identical, apart from my SNR fluctuates during the day obviously.
      - I've had numerous other people look at the line and see what they make of it and most are baffled that the line length indeed does say 12000 odd. Put it this way - the amount of CRCs that are produced in about a couple of minutes or less of syncing at 1024kb are rising well above my downstream speed.
      - Samknows suggests:

      ADSL available at ~1.5Mbps
      ADSL2+ available at ~1.8Mbps

Also says my exchange is 1426m away, but it must do a pretty long trip elsewhere before finally arriving at the exchange.

Something I haven't tried, if this would make any difference, is trying to configure whilst I have the sagem plugged in instead of the netgear. Not even sure why the sagem's now working actually, because before it was syncing amber... assume something to do with IRIS.

      re: Youtube streaming very slowly

I am a bit confused as to why your first set of stats shows an attenuation of 56 dbs and your latest 63.5dbs. That is too much difference just to be different routers, the second set show your line is very long, but I still doubt the 12 Km figure. Any chance you can get hold of a 3rd router to see which one is correct?

I'll check on lama what it says the line length is again to double check when I'm next in.

Regarding the routers - you mean a 3rd party or a sky router? Or either?
