Angry Gone from 12.5MB to 2MB!

Hi there, we joined Sky in January and everything was great. We took Sky HD+, Sky Multi-room Sky Broadband & Sky Phone.

We went with the max package and were told we would get around 14mb. We received 12.5mb at the beginning. However, after around 2 months the speed was cut to around 2mb and we were not contacted or notified by SKY as to the reason why we had been cut by 10MB. We are not heavy downloaders, we use XBOX Live and my brother play WOW.

After contacting SKY they said they didn't know anything about it and refused to do anything. Only after advising them that we were going to leave and move did they decide to bump us up.......to 7MB. That was ok with me, a tad annoyed but today i logon to find that yet again we have been bumped down to 2MB without any notification etc from SKY.

I'm sure you'll understand that i'm very angry and am on the verge of cancelling all SKY services as their customer service is very poor as again they are denying any knowledge of it. I am paying for a 16MB Package and getting 2MB is not acceptable imo, especially seen as i was getting 12.5mb when i first joined!

      Anyone else been expereincing it?

Can you post your router stats.

Sky Max is an upto 16mb service and the speeds you get depends on the distance from the exchange you are and the line quality.

I can only think that you have had a problem with your line quality which is why the speed has reduced, this would be dopne automatically via DLM which monitors all lines to ensure that they are kept stable.

If you post your router stats we should be able to give you an indication on what seems to be the problem, it could be as simple as a faulty ADSL filter.

If you can, do this from the current router location and also from the test socket if you have one (see sig for details).

      Modem
      ADSL Firmware Version A2pB023o.d20h
      Modem Status Up
      DownStream Connection Speed 7001
      UpStream Connection Speed 796
      VPI 0
      VCI 38

It's gone back up to 7MB after resetting the router, however i would like to increase the speed to 12.5mb again if possible. Are these the stats you need?

On your router homepage at the bottom it says show statistics. The bottom table contains the information we need.

      Looks like this

      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 16383 kbps 797 kbps
Line Attenuation xx.x db x.x db
Noise Margin xx.x db xx.x db

Re: Gone from 12.5MB to 2MB!

with that attenuation you'd be on an awesome line to get 12Mbps!!

if you have a test socket plug into there and repost stats...

Identical stats to mine, any higher and my noise margin goes down too low to browse the internet
