Yes filters make a massive difference.

Are you still plugged into the test socket? If so, can you check if your phones in the other bedrooms still work and post back.

Update : Did the quiet line test, all I hear is silence so I guess there's no problem with that? :P
Just a very faint hiss thats all.

Should I just call BT anyway and tell them I have noise problem?

No, if I am plugged into test socket no other phones in the house will work.

edit: forgive me if this sounds like a silly question but even if I switch the filters around they will still be the same one from Sky, so this means should not make any difference unless I get another brand/make?

Re: Am I getting a good speed?

Okay, that's good (proves that the internal wiring is now disconnected).

In that case, then try the filters from the bedrooms to see if that helps.

Re: Am I getting a good speed?

You might also want to try the other filters one at a time. Just don't plug anything into the other sockets when you do so. If you are plugged into the test socket, the other sockets should be dead anyway and will not require filters.

If you have not already done it, remove the wire from terminal 3 on the back of the Master socket faceplate.

Provided you can use the maser socket to plug your router in, an ADSL filtered faceplate would be your best bet.

You'll have to make a judgement call, but a 'quiet libe test' is a quiet line test not a faint hiss test .

Have a read of Quiet Line Test

Unless of course, the one you are using has a defect . It's just worth a try.

Re: Am I getting a good speed?

      Stats with another filter:

      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 7360 kbps 768 kbps
Line Attenuation 30 db 16 db
Noise Margin 9 db 14 db

Also can you have a look at the wiring of my master socket? Looks a bit dodgy...

Maybe you should read Brian, the phone Guru's addition to that post. No line will be completely silent, unless it is dead of course

Re: Am I getting a good speed?

I know, that's what I meant. It's difficult to comment on a 'faint hiss', what one person think's is faint, another won't.... and we can't hear it
