You seem to be getting some noise on the line somewhere. Do you hear any noise on the voice line, press a button and listen, you should only hear a faint hum, no cracks or pops.

Re: sync speed - really slow

the line does sound funny, its kind of hard to explain like its an echo,

and say when i call a mobile, when the line is silent you can hear slight noise on the line, its a new build house, well one year old, the noise is there even when plugged into the test socket

i have ordered one of those xte-2005 master faceplate things to see of that will improve things

      stats as of 19.35pm

      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 1535 kbps 606 kbps
Line Attenuation 56.5 db 32.6 db
Noise Margin 7.8 db 12.0 db

Re: sync speed - really slow

The faceplate won't do anything if it is the same in the test socket.

You should ring BT (if you pay line rental to them) and report a fault, just tell them you have an echo, it is a common fault, do not mention any problems with ADSL, that will confuse things.

When the engineer arrives, treat him to some coffee and hobnobs and then tell him you also suffer from poor sync speeds and you think this is also related to the fault.

If the engineer finds nothing wrong, phone Sky and ask for your speed to be checked, you will probably be told you are getting as much as you can. If so, ask politely to be put through to CST then ask them to try your line on G.DMT as your line was better when it was on that previously.

Re: sync speed - really slow

i pay yourcalls for my phone service, and pay them the rental, and funny to think about it this echo started about 3 months ago when we moved to there service and terminated bt lol

so i guess ile have to contact yourcalls about the fault, on another note if the engineer finds no fault ile have a nasty charge on my door step wont i ?

also the other thing, i have a second line in the house for my business phone and broadband, it runs from a seperate master box in another location to the house one, and that connection is on bt business broadband and is connected at 3.5mb down with an upload of nearly 1mb

so quite a difference on that line to this one
