      Unhappy Line drops once a day

      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
      Connection Speed 5440 kbps 800 kbps
      Line Attenuation 47.0 db 29.5 db
      Noise Margin 7.4 db 15.0 db

      Line drops once a day and requires reboot of router to resolve issue.

      Any suggestions?

      can you describe your phisical set up to the router and are you connecting wireless or hard wired. btw welcome to the forum

      You could also try the test socket if you have any extensions, to make sure none of them are causing problems.

      i current have my sagem f@st router connected to the test socket, no extensions to the telephone cable between router and socket. we connect 2 laptops, wii, and ipod touch wirelessly and my xbox 360 and nas are connected via ethernet. i've swapped over the filter but not noticed any difference.

      current stats:

      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
      Connection Speed 6144 kbps 800 kbps
      Line Attenuation 48.0 db 29.5 db
      Noise Margin 6.9 db 15.0 db

      From what the skyuser line checker says, with your attenuation of 48db your line should be capable of 6 - 7mb, so you are doing well with your current sync speed.

      As a bump to this, and a hope that one of the uber tech guys will pick it up, I've also been getting daily (ish) disconnects.

      Had sky max for ages, been fine but over the past few weeks or so it has cut me off every day / 2 days for a minute.

      Still using the oringal white router, and my line is around 13meg, plugged into the test socket and the extension in the house is badly wired.

      My router is on all of the time, and the disconnects happen any time from 7pm to 10pm.

      Any help would be appreciated.

      Will need stats before, after and during disconnections to see what is happening.

      Are you plugged into the test socket? because if you are no extensions etc should be working. It may be worth getting a filtered faceplate to remove any roblem wiring from the ADSL.

      Paul, I'll see about getting stats normally just swear at the computer when it kicks me off and grab another drink....

      Had it plugged into the test socket for the past 18 months, it's a rented property so I'm not wasting money buying a new faceplate when I don't need to!

      Throw your current stats up when ready, may well point to the issue before it drops.
