It is considered bad etiquette to intrude on another's thread. It is not entirely your fault, as the question should not have been asked in the first place.

      Question Re: Downstream change

Back to my issue - Wan has now stayed up for some 120 hours with the following stats:
      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 1530 kbps 384 kbps
Line Attenuation 63 db 39 db
Noise Margin 12 db 9 db

Guess that it so have sent a message to Sky explaining the situation, stated back to what happened 12 months ago and how about G.DMT for my longish line.

Question is, if I decide I have had enough what would say O2 provide, would their configuration be any more or less suitable for a long line?

      Re: Downstream change

If your noise margin is staying high, they should be able to manually configure your line for a better speed. It is worth phoning as emailing in this sort of situation is likely to get you further capped.

      Smile Re: Downstream change

Pleasant surprise just found dramatic connection recovery - download only down 8% now from the 50%

Further Sky e-mailed to apologise for the delay and advise line has now been set to 3072Kbps (3MB) however it is only connecting in at 2720Kbps. It may be that there is an issue with the physical setup of your broadband equipment - Would agree with this I did identify possible problem this afternoon!

      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 2720 kbps 416 kbps
Line Attenuation 61 db 31 db
Noise Margin 7 db 11 db

So well done Sky, just a shame they repeated the same adjustment without notice as in June 2008 - DLM also could mean Dim Line Management!

      Re: Downstream change

Someone has used their brains and returned your line to G.DMT, just keep your fingers crossed that your line has been marked as 'unsuitable for ADSL2+' so that someone else doesn't turn it back on.
