Anything that uses capacity will be a factor but as Sky is a braodband supplier they should take this into account and either ringfence the gamers and limit the other more heavy P2P downloaders or supply more capacity to share.

PSN gamers do not use up a lot of bandwidth, P2P torrents and downloaders do and they are the ones who should be limited at peak times.

They really should learn how to use traffic management properly before just applying it across the board.

Re: Steve's Sky Connect speedtest blog

although I mentioned gamers - the point was the P2P bandwidth being opened up (file sharing/torrents) has caused everyone else go down...just that it was the PSN gamers kicking off that had it opened up...

Re: Steve's Sky Connect speedtest blog

Can they not just put the PSN gamers on a different protocol and leave the other P2P in the manages queue or is that not possible?

I'm sure Plusnet do this and just allow certain games through as they need.

Usable But Sky having put line attenuation up there by giving the connect Customer lower speeds and on top of that throttle.
