Re: Steve's Sky Connect speedtest blog

To do the Bt speed test Test Result first part add home telephone number.
The second part user name you need to use is the Lan port MAC address of your router (without the colons) followed by @skydsl. you'll find it on the sticker on the bottom of the router if for some reason no sticker You can also use the link How to get your router statistics For connect Customer the Bt test is what Sky will ask you to do the reason is Sky need to know your IP Profile and Actual IP Throughput Achieved During Test

Re: Steve's Sky Connect speedtest blog

23:13 15/05/09 Bt test is wrong first attempt was busy second attempt pathetic how can connect customers be told to use the Bt performance test when every now and again it shows untrue speeds are Bt doing it on purpose to make you think your ISP is Throttling your line. So I tried Sky user speed test 15 May, 2009 23:15:55 2032 Kbps 354 Kbps is more like it. So an idea is to do the both Bt first and then Sky user speed tester and see if the speeds are similar.

Actual IP throughput achieved during the test was - 28 kbps

This test was not conclusive and further testing is required.

Please wait whilst you are redirected to undertake a second test.
      You now have two choices-

      1. If you wish to carry out further tests and you are competent to make changes to your ADSL system configuration, then please click on 'Continue' button.

      2. If not, please close the window using 'Exit' button and contact your ISP for further assistance with these results.

Re: Steve's Sky Connect speedtest blog

It could be that the BT speed tester site is so horribly overloaded with all the speedtests that it is now giving slower results due to load issues.

      Steve,
When you get this message it would be useful if you had another non-Sky router, where you could put in the BT server details. This would show whether the slow down is due to the Sky servers. Maybe you can put your hands on another router or even an old USB modem.

Re: Steve's Sky Connect speedtest blog

What you would have to do is install the ST330 software and when you are asked to use the BT servers, plug it in, put the info into it and try to connect. If you then connect at a much higher speed it means the slowdown is in the Sky network and not BT's. You could actually get your username and password out of the Sky router, put these into the ST330 and make sure you can connect.
