      Getting seriously fed up

Hi all. I'm hoping someone can point me in the right direction. My internet has been dropping connection several times a day (and night) for the past week. I am on Sky Mid, and have a black Netgear DG934G router. I have 2 phone sockets and am connected via ethernet cable to the second (not master) socket. I have not experienced any problems whatsoever until this last week. I have the full Sky package which includes phone line rental.

I have been watching my stats page tonight and this is what I get:

Port Status TxPkts RxPkts Collisions Tx B/s Rx B/s Up Time
      WAN PPPoA 6818 7564 0 370 1390 01:14:52
      LAN 100M/Full 33819 31175 0 1047 324 07:38:01
      WLAN 11M/54M 1141 0 0 4 0 07:37:49
      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 0 kbps 0 kbps
Line Attenuation 41 db 24 db
Noise Margin 2147483647 db 13 db

Notice the Noise Margin - this is happening every time my connection drops. When it comes back on again, the following stats are typical of what I see:

Port Status TxPkts RxPkts Collisions Tx B/s Rx B/s Up Time
      WAN PPPoA 6818 7564 0 367 1380 01:15:22
      LAN 100M/Full 33859 31196 0 1046 324 07:38:31
      WLAN 11M/54M 1141 0 0 4 0 07:38:19
      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 5632 kbps 416 kbps
Line Attenuation 41 db 24 db
Noise Margin 6 db 13 db

Can anyone explain what might be going on?

Most likely you have severe line problems. Your noise margin is dropping to the point where the router can't measure it properly any more (shown by the impossibly massive NM number), the connection drops (the 0kbps connection speed) and then when it resyncs it is back to the default of 6.9db.

See the first sticky in my sig for a fuller explanation of noise margin/sync etc.

      Hi Newsreader

Was trying to reply to you and crashed out again! I've been with Sky broadband since September 2008 with no problems until now.
