So it looks like Skyuser is correct and speedtest is rubbish as I have said more than once

That being said if you are syncing at 10-11Mbs your throughput is way down. You should be looking for a reason for this rather than worrying about your sync speed at the moment. Start by running deep AV, adware and trojan scans.

If you are of a mind, you could try starting in Safe Mode with Networking and do the BT test again. Do not surf in Safe Mode as you are very open to attack, just do the test and disconnect.

Will run all AV, adware scans etc......

Could there be any other reason as to why sync rate is good but download rate is bad?

I'm still inclined to thing there may be something wrong with the line due to the noise created when router is synced with exchange.

Yes CRC errors can slow your downloads due to data having to be resent. Unfortunately, with your type of router there is no easy way to check this. Reducing the sync speed can actually improve the download speed in some case.

If you are running XP and have not already done so, try downloading and running TCPOptimiser, link below. There are tweaks available for Vista, but I did not notice any difference when applying them.

Re: Sky Max - 10 day training done, capped at 2 Mb!!!

Have run full, deep AV, adware, spyware, trojan scans and speed is still very low.

I have also tried the computer I am using (laptop) at work and download rate on that connection is same as other desktops in the office.

Have tried downloading a file using my PS3 on m home connection and it returns roughly the same low download rate as laptop.

My phone line rental is changing from BT to Sky at the moment. Do I still phone BT to tell them about noise on the line or do I phone Sky and report it?

      Cheers all

Call however you are actually paying at the moment. Better do it quick as you could be bounced around if the transfer has started.
