      10 Day Trial Period Nearly Over (High Ping)

      My 10 day trial period is nearly over but I have high pings, stats as follows using - 2 XF-1e Professional ADSL 2+ Microfilter, modem cable - Belkin CC3011AED07 2.1m High Speed RJ11 to RJ11 cable Ė( 1.376km from exchange)

      Connection Speed D/stream = 8191kbps / UP/stream = 767kbps
      Line Attenuation D/stream = 40.0 db / UP/stream = 21.2 db
      Noise Margin D/stream = 7.4 db / UP/stream = 16.0 db

      When I was with BT OP/3, With 3 PCís + 1 PS 3 connected surfing, gaming, downloading, etc, playing Battlefield 2142 ping was 53 now with Sky Max Ė 74, have pinged 2 serverís - = 63ms / = 64ms,

      1. My connection is from a secondary socket (hard wired not extension lead) is this the max/speed I can get. I have not tried the master socket too see if that would make difference, am I right in thinking it might take at least 24HRís to see if that makes a difference or even longer.

      2. Could I be capped?

      3. If I phone CST and ask them to set my Max Delay to 8 can I ask them not to alter my connection speed (not to cap it), as itís been rock solid at 8.191Mb no matter what?

      4. Whatís the best time to phone CST and whatís the best way to go about it.

      My PC spec is as follows Q6600@3.2GHz, 4GB of memory, graphicís card ATI 4850 / 512MBís as you can see my comp is not the problem ( l know your graphics card can cause lag if itís not up to the job )

      You could try the Test socket to see if you will get any more. You will know immediately, your speed will go up or your noise margin will go up if you are capped.

      Sky tech have instructions to leave a line stable when they reduce the delay, this sometimes means a speed reduction, but not always.

      After 10.30 pm is said to be the best time to phone.
