      Disconnections

Right been with Sky about 4 years and had major problems back at the beginning with continuous drops in speed and disconnections, this was resolved with the help of this forum and some changes to my telephone wiring. since then perfect no problems, the connection would be stable for weeks or months at a time
Until this week but its differen't to last time, this time there is no reduction in speed, the router suddenly disconnects from the outside world, then reconnects again for no apparent reason. The stats look Ok to me. The only thing I noticed it at the bottom it says "dropped line 1" and "retrain 1"
It's only happening a few times aday at the moment, but I would like to get to the bottom of it b4 it gets worse. Last time I had the problems I couldn't maintain a connection for more than 20 - 30 minutes,

      Re: Disconnections

I think it is ADSL2+ being applied to the line. Mine did exactly the same over a period of about a week. It did not effect me as it always happened in the early hours, when I was tucked up in bed.

You are looking good for 13-14 Mb should you want to go Max.

      Re: Disconnections

Yes I believe I've always been on ADSL2+ never logged a problem with Sky, so they have never had the chance to switch it GDM whatever. Still getting the disconnects. Also noticed in the router log : Send out NTP request to ntp1.isp.sky.com
      Tue, 2009-05-05 10:10:05 - Receive NTP Reply from ntp1.isp.sky.com

Whats that? Think I'm getting a bit paranoid here lol

I believe that's a request for the correct time for your PC - It syncs with an NTP to do so via Internet Time.

      Re: Disconnections

No,it is the router sending out time requests to set/reset its internal clock.
