Hi at the moment Sky does not seem to want to fix it I have seen so many leave and there seems to be many joining as long as this happens I cannot see sky fixing it. The only way is to do Bt tests morning afternoon and between 5pm and midnight so when you ring sky you have the tests to show that your not being traffic shaped but throttled CST should help with your IP Profile should be at least 6500kbps and your Actual Throughput during test 183kbps will go back up what speed do you usually get through the day.

What can I do though? You've told me some interesting stuff but so far you havn't told me how to fix it.
      Sorry for being awkward.
Simples! Get rid of Sky Connect NOW! Go with a proper ISP that provides a professional service.

Take a look at Newnet or IDNet who provide a non restricted service that cannot be matched. Cost a little more, but, you get what you pay for!

Get rid of Sky Connect NOW! Simples!

You are quite right. I don't think anyone should hold their breath waiting for Sky to act.......they won't!

Ditch Sky Connect is the answer and move on to greener pastures and enjoy the internet as it should be.

Thanks for all the replies again.
I guess the easiest thing to do is to try calling them one more time, if nothing is resolved I'll change ISP.
So, if I do the latter, which ISPs do you recommend?
I've noted down Zen, Plusnet and IdNet.
Anymore ISPs you'd recommend to a user like me? (preferably something a little less or equal to 17)

      Edit -
I've just checked out those ISPs. Plusnet sounds pretty good, but the others are twice as expensive and they have monthly usage limits.
I don't think I'll find much better than plusnet where I live (Yup, down in the rural side).
Anyway, anything close to or similar to plusnet?

Re: Unusable broadband past 5.30PM - 6PM daily

      The cost is the problem.

Each ISP buys capacity from BT this costs 's so when they then sell it on to their customers they have to charge a reasonable rate to keep capacity at a useable level and make a profit.

With the 40gb Sky give you they will make a loss if everyone did the 40gb, it works our at around the 1 per 1gb.

To have a good ISP they either need to charge more or give you less and then charge per gb if you go over the allowance.

If you can afford it then you will be hard to find a better ISP than Zen.

IdNet and Plusnet also come reccomended by others here.

This is the problem, if you want a good service you have to pay for it.

It is your choice, I am in a VERY rural location and IDNet give me the service I require, however, NewNet give a very similar product but both will charge you extra for their service. It is up to your personal finances and personal requirements what route you take.

      Good luck!

Re: Unusable broadband past 5.30PM - 6PM daily

When I phone them on monday and put my case forward, what chance do you think that anything will be done?

Also, does anyone think these ISPs are going to change anytime soon?
It seems almost illegal to me what they do. They advertise a service that almost never performs upto standard, does reliable internet actually exist?
I can't think of many other products/services that perform this trick as much as ISPs. So often I hear/read about people complaining about their ISPs...

      I hope they improve soon
