      Exclamation Cannot connect via internet explorer Sky Router connected

      My mum and dad have Netgear Sky router connected to their pc via an ethernet cable. It has always worked fine until about 2 weeks ago. Now although the router is saying connected and everything looks fine when you open Internet Explorer all you get is in the address bar the word "connecting....." and that is all that happens - it freezes the computer. Have checked all cables and telephone sockets. No updates and taken place in the 2 weeks and I don't know what to try next. Please help.

      Is the Internet light lit on the router? Can you enter the router settings and do a Sky test? Type 192.168.0.1 in the browser address bar, put in admin for the user and sky for the password. Click the Sky Test button at the bottom of the Status page. This may restart your connection, if not what does it say?

      Have you tried turning the router off for a few mins and then switching back on?

      can you use the computer without the internet?

      it could be a virus have you tried scanning the computer for viruses?
