Slow speeds and constant connect drop

Over the last 2 weeks my connection seems to be getting worse and worse. About 5-6 times a day the connection will drop and the green i light on the router will go off and not come back on. It only comes back on if I take the black cable (power) out, wait 45-60 seconds then it will turn orange. It stays orange for about 2-3 minutes, somtimes more than it will flash green and stay green.

I'm only getting 4meg down and 0.6 meg up but over the last 2 weeks my download speed has dropped to just under 3 meg My router is plugged into the main socket, well not directly, I'm using an extension cable (like this one http://safekom.com/ebay/img/25M-RJ11-XT.JPG).

My phone seems to be fine, there is no background noise or anything so I don't think it's my phone line. Could it be the router?

      Any help appriecated.

Dont use an extension cable as it will kill the Broadband signal.

Locate your master socket, have the filter going in first then have the phone on one side and the router on the other side. If you need to get online buy a longer Ethernet Cable from ebay which are quite cheap or go wireless.

Re: Slow speeds and constant connect drop

I have tried it without an extension cable and it makes absolutely no difference. I will try getting a longer Ethernet Cable tho Maybe that will work, thanks

Re: Slow speeds and constant connect drop

If you have a test socket plug it in there, also try a different filter.

Post your stats to see what the connection is like

Are you base, mid or max or connect?

Re: Slow speeds and constant connect drop

Sadly the master socket is old and doesn't have a test socket

I opened it up a few months ago and it all looks fine, no wires have rusted or anything.

I'm on max, how do I post my stats? I used to do it before but I forgot how to post the detailed stats.

Re: Slow speeds and constant connect drop

It looks like DLM has run, or is running on your line. It has moved you to ADSL2+, which may account for your reduction in speed. All you can do is phone Sky and ask them to suspend DLM on your line and/or return it to G.DMT for a trial period to see if it improves.
